Ten residents from the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville, Montgomery County, visited Primitive Hall on a beautiful autumn day on Sept. 26. The group arrived in the retirement community’s own mini-bus and were welcomed by two Hall docents. Making the tour truly authentic was the fact that the Hall’s electric power was down during part of the morning.
One visitor, a retired construction-company executive, marveled at how well preserved the woodwork was and took many close-up photos. Spying a bed warmer, another visitor recalled her grandmother employing a similar gadget. Several guests commented on how wonderful it was to see so much preserved open land.
After the tour, the guests enjoyed lunch at Hood’s BBQ in Unionville. The tour’s organizer said the group is looking forward to sharing their photos and stories with other residents.
